According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations, a car is stolen every 25.3 seconds in the United States, making auto theft a booming $7.5 billion dollar a year business.
Surprisingly, most incidents of auto theft can be attributed to owner negligence. Owners who obligingly leave their doors open, keys in the ignition, or hidden in the visor, are inadvertently making it easier for the thief.
Four out of five cases of auto theft were accomplished because the owner failed to take their keys with them when they exited the car.
